John:
1. When are you taking deposits and allocating slots in the production line?
I do not work for GAMI and have no hard information about that issue. Based on what I know, I'm hoping, "soon." Please contact them directly for this answer.
2. When are you going to ship the first one to a customer?
Again, call GAMI. I suspect shipment for the experimental market sooner than the certified market.
3. Can you bracket a price plus or minus two grand?
They tell me that they are trying to make it comparable to the price of a pair of Bendix mags over the TBO of the engine. I suspect it would simply move to the next overhauled engine with no special issues. The price is dependent on the cost of a few key components which are currently in negotiation with vendors. Some of these parts are so expensive or difficult to manufacture that GAMI is considering tooling up to make them themselves.
4. If one already has a dual alternator and dual battery electrical system, will they have to rip one system out and buy the Supplenator? Or can they work with you to make less drastic mods?
PRISM uses a very advanced electrical load-sharing system which includes the Supplenator. It *MAY* be possible to keep part of your current standby system, but I'm not sure how it would integrate. Again, those questions should be posed to GAMI.
I really hope that Prism will be a serious product on the market in 2005.
Meeee, too. I expect to have the system operating in my airplane in 2006, if not during 2005.
