Gang,

Just back from a weekend of light your hair on fire flying at Deer Valley in the Yaks and CJ's.  Must admit one of the most memorable moments was flying home today in the LNC2 when I intercepted a flight of 4 Yak-50's in combat spread...buddies from the Bay Area headed home...and popped around the flight showing off the new bird.  Of course I had to pop the speed brakes every time as I pulled up next to one of 'em to dump the smash (overtake)...smoke 'me while you've got 'em!  :)  But I digress.....

Heading back into CNO today had to come in under the broken layer and did my best to dodge the rain...was not wholly successful.   I had been told that rain and composite airframes don't mix well - that you can get damage done to the leading edge where the electrical build up will leap through the paint causing damage.  What's the deal on this?   I felt and inspected the leading edges and they appeared to be fine.....

Also, I want to run LOP (nice bag 'O worms, I just opened, eh?) but was told not to do it until I get the temps matched (new IO-550, for reference)?  I have the Chelton system saying all EGT's are within 40 degrees of each other.  Suggestions?

BTW, DVT (Phoenix) to CNO (Chino, CA) block to block in 1:30 with a 15 minute ground delay....Southwest, eat your heart out!

Cheers,

Barry
