Gary,
Consider finding a project in progress and volunteer to assist with
it. Find one who has collaborated with others or has built several plastic
planes already so you can judge the expertise of the builder.
Then use the experience to:
a)determine if you really are interested in
building your own a/c
b) if
you have the "hands" for it
c) if
the Lancair kit in question is really what you thought and is for you (you need
to find someone building your make and model for this)
I
don't think you need to put in lots of hours at this but the more you do, the
better your data. Ask lots of questions as you go so you'll be better
trained to do your project.
When
you're building your own, remember to help other prospective builders in
the same manner.
