I am hoping that someone can help with a problem that I am having firing up
the hydraulic pump.
I carefully set up the hydraulics for the first time, put the aircraft on
jacks, connected the battery and - - -absolutely nothing happened. Turns
out both the original relays were dud. I put new relays in, and got the
pump going, but it seemed intermittent. After fixing a minor leak, I tried
again, and the pump is very intermittent. The relays are working (you can
hear them), and the 10 awg wires get warm (as per the instructions, and
quite inadequate for 40 amps, I am putting 8 AWG in as soon as I can), so
the wiggly amps are getting through. But I have to repeatedly switch the
pump on and off to get the pump going, and then it stops after a few
seconds, before the pressure gets up.
Is there anything else I can try before sending it back to Lancair, which
means I won't get it back until mid January if I am lucky? And yes, I did
restrict the pump operation to 20 seconds, with a 5 minute cooling down
period when I first tried it. It is just a little frustrating, but at least
I got the gear up once! Thanks for any help.
