I believe the play that you are referring to was loose bolts that attach
the axle to the gear leg axle pad. One LML member brought it to the
attention of the group. I checked mine and found 3 out of 4 bolts were
loose. The looseness had not created any abnormal wear and they were
retightened using locktite. I have checked them since and have not
found any additional problems.
I am not aware of any loose fitting gear legs and fuselage gear leg
recepticals. It is my opinion that once the airplane is on its wheels,
fully assembled, and fueled there will be enough of a friction fit that
any play will dissappear. The through bolts are only there for
redundant retention as the fit is actually in the tube and sleeve.
Possibly another recommendation to make a tight fit would be a heavy
coat of zinc chromate primer both on the tube and inside the fitting.
