I read the FFI document.  The name implies this is a for profit outfit? 
  I personally don't have a problem with it, but a lot of guys do, and 
it's not in the spirit of FAST, that's for sure.

I think that instructors and check pilots should have out of pocket 
expenses covered (i.e. event fee) but I definitely don't think there 
should be checks written for check rides...YMMV

I'm in the west so it would have to be somewhere out here for me to be 
an effective organizer.  If there are guys interested in a formation 
clinic out here, please email me directly (this list already has enough 
traffic!).  If you are a qualified formation instructor/check pilot and 
would like to help out, please let me know...and again, if there is 
someone out here already doing this stuff, I'm happy to assist your 
efforts.
