Below is a post I made in July 2003 regarding my MT experience.  Now, 12 months and 100hours later, the prop is leaking again.  Personally, I am not thrilled with spending thousands of dollars in an attempt to solve what appears to me to be an MT design/manufacturing problem.  I am even less thrilled with the problem surfacing again so quickly. My experience with MT customer support has been very dissapointing.  Now that my Lancair (and I) are now in Europe, maybe I will have better results with MT support.

I recently took my LNC2 360 to a local distributor in (Sensenich in PA), listed on the MT website, to repair a leaking propelller seal. I understand that many other MT owners have had this problem, which MT is addressing by offering a redesigned seal and boring the hub to accept a stainless liner. I had just over 300 hours (2 years) on my MT 3 blade prop.

After the fact, I discovered that Sensenich charged me significantly more than MT Florida (MT's US office) would have. In fact, it appears that MT Florida may also be absorbing some/much of the cost, even if the prop is technically out of the warranty period due to the apparent unanticipated early failure of these seals. My local dealer claimed that MT was doing this only for Diamond aircraft.

I am very satisfied with my MT propeller (aside from the recent $2,600 repair bill with less than 300hrs). However, I would suggest that anyone with this problem first contact MT Florida or MT Germany and not just assume that you will get the same treatment through a distributor just because they are listed on the official MT company website.
