Bill and interested others,
I don't know how much Oildyne gets for the hyd. pwr. pk. but Lancair gets
$600.00. I asked about buying the unit direct from Oildyne but they do not
want to get into the business of competing with their customers, which I can
understand. My discussions were with the engineers on these units (first
names Bryan and Vern in Minneapolis) (763) 229-7859. They estimated I had
about 25 +/- continuous hours on my pump but given its age and
considerations about the brushes and future problems, a new pump was the way
to go. That old pump was so darn hard to service and check with that tiny
fill port and little stem, the new, big reservoir is almost worth the price.
Also, my landing gear now come up very quickly, in roughly five seconds.
That old pump would struggle over ten plus or minus seconds then run in
short bursts for the next five getting the doors closed. My occasional low
and hot transition was getting to the point of exceeding the red line (120
kts.) on the doors before they closed.
The new high pressure switch is at 1100 psi and with the new pump no
adjustment of the setting is required.
Thanks for the input and suggestions from others when my problem surfaced.
A little panic starts churning when there are unknowns happening and there
is uncertainty. More information on the table helps in sorting out the next
step.
