Subject: Mt Propeller Seal Leak

I have a 3-bladed Mt prop (MTV-12-B/175-17b) on by 360
which has developed the leaky seal problem that has
been talked about here on the list in the past --
bummer. I have 400 hours on the plane and the prop. I
contacted American Propeller and they advised me it
would have to be disassembled and sent to MT for
modification. They said the cost would be about
$2,200.

Those of you who have had the modification done, is
this about what you had to pay? Are the new seals and
the modification working?

They also told me that I could have a complete rebuilt
for about $3,000, but that would not include bearings
if I need them. It doesn't seem like I should need a
complete rebuild unless there has been damage to the
bearings due to lack of grease, but it would put the
prop back to zero hours.

I would appreciate any advise you could give me.
Thanks.
