Just about the time I was going to conclude that the little handful of semi-precious metal (governor) was fubar right out of the box -- voila! Pitch change, rpm drop. End of problem. All this, by the way, was done with my A&P cheering me on; he says it's normal for first startup, and that it just takes a while for all of the oil lines to get cleared of air and start doing their thing. I guess I'd try again before concluding things don't work.
