in Europe is great!
Tim,
I loved the concrete picture of gravitas! Usually, here in the US, we
would plumb the fuel and oil systems for inverted flight whilst carrying
the laminar flow disrupting old bags.
Metric is lovely since my Honda motorcycle, manufactured in Ohio (a small
eerie state in the US), is very metric. Of course, all of the chrome
add-ons are held by "english fixments." At least you get to use only
one system and multiples of 10 - like who has twelve fingers or toes?
Since your Kilometer sized complaints puts you in knots, move abroad -
come to the US. You may easily enter by driving a large truck (with your
Lancair inside) across the US border with Mexico. If you like cooler
temps, get thee to Canada and cross anywhere, although Niagra Falls is the
most romantic crossing if you bring your wife.
Fuel here is cheap if you put it on your wife's credit card.
Good luck staying in Europe, it can't possibly last much longer since
coming out of the dark ages so long ago.
At least you don't have Presidential TFRs (temporary flight restrictions)
that pop up willy-nilly. Just think of the possibilities - An F-16 escort
to the nearest airport or else! Of course, here we are truly
"experimental" and I am mounting a pair of Skurvy Air-to-Air Missiles on each
wing. Made by Glock, they will provide the appropriate self-defense and
certainly keep others from cutting me out of the pattern.
