When compared at night side by side there is virtually no discernable difference. These are NOT MR16 bulbs you can buy at any bulb outlet or Home Depot. They are specifically made for a narrow beam landing light with a special filament and reflector . I've sent many of these bulbs over the years to Lancair builders and all have commented that they do produce an incredible pencil beam of light. No doubt with accurate lumin measuring equipment the xenon lights will produce a higher CP, but for the difference in $$$$ most people are happy with the MR16's. I remember the first time we tried these bulbs at OSH around 1996. At the parking lot, just going into the Lancair banquet, Rick Argente and I lit up the hotel which was a block away. With the exception of one builder who couldn't fit the bulb into his housing, everyone who has asked for a free sample bulb to compare against their existing MR16 bulb have purchased a dozen bulbs to last a lifetime.
