Use the RMI Manual to calibrate the OAT sensor. 2. The sensor is very sensitive and can be affected by the sun and internal cabin temperatures - even those transmitted physically by the wire. Some of us have mounted the probe to be completely external to the cockpit - I put mine on the bottom of the wing, 2 inches forward of the midpoint of the left main gear well opening. Thus, the probe is protected from the sun and, the probe case and wiring are not affected by warm cabin temps.
