I found a gas strut at the local Murray's store called a "STRONG ARM" part
number 4422 for $15.95 The physical dimensions are very close but the holes
on the ends needed to be bushed down to 3/16 " just like the replacement I
received from the factory. The good part is neither me or all my fat friends
(@275+lbs)could collapse this thing with a bar through one end ! I would
venture to say its at least twice as strong when compared to a new one from
the factory.... It extends the gear quite smartly.
