>> There's just nothing quite like the real stuff for look and
feel. I also didn't think the seat stitching would be as strong in the
Ultraleather, and my upholstery guy confirmed that.
I am not in the upholstery business, so I know little about the
industry. But I have never seen any stitch problems over time in all
the aircraft interiors done with either Finesse or Ultra-leather. After 4
years in my plane of standing in the seats, sliding down in them with riveted
Levis, there is no evidence of stitch problems. All of you that have seen
my plane, can probably attest to the interior materials still looking like
new.
Now that I have said that, the next time I get in the plane, I'll
probably tear something.
I have seen on multiple occasions in an upholstery shop a test of
identification of various samples of leather, finesse, and ultra-leather by
aircraft customers. And in almost every case they could not identify which
samples were real leather and which were the "new-age" material. The
"new-age materials look and feel like leather, but wear much better.
(unless of course one wants the look of worn leather) But then the
"new-age" materials are available with the "worn-look" too.
