As a native English speaker may I be allowed to  comment on hard to understand English.  We have allowed many of our overseas territories to use our language.  The results have been varied in the extreme and range from complete butchery of the language to a reasonable facsimile of proper English in other places.  Nobody should be dismayed if the English they learnt to speak at their mother's knee does not work in other parts of the world.  After all how many times do we misunderstand our wives and we are both speaking English!!  Scottish accents are accepted in Britain but are no easier for native Britains to understand than their overseas cousins.

Regards
