EAA's e-Hotline today:   Zehrbach Receives
51-Month SentenceDarus Zehrbach, president of aircraft engine
converter Zehrbach/LPE, was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison and ordered
to pay $224,000 in restitution on Friday, October 18, for mail fraud and
conspiracy. Co-defendant in the case Lee Anne Demus received a 37-month
sentence. In addition, both will be on supervised release for three years upon
their release from prison. Zehrbach had faced five years imprisonment for each
count, which stemmed from events that occurred in the early-to-mid 1990s
regarding failure to fulfill contracts for aircraft engines and engine parts and
using escrowed funds for personal use. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney
Zelda Wesley, the prosecution was satisfied with the sentences handed
down.
