Tom Niederhelman 50LM -----Original Message----- From: Lancair Mailing List [mailto:lml@lancaironline.net] On Behalf Of Richard L Perry Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 12:39 PM To: Lancair Mailing List Subject: [LML] I have a Zehrbach engine in my 4p I have a 500 hp direct drive (no gear box) V-8 of 650 cubs installed in my 4P. I am attaching some pictures for those disbelievers. The first one I took at a small airport in WV. near Morgantown. The picture shows Darus Zehrbach setting at his PC programing the two engine computers as the engine is at a cruse setting of 350 hp. This unique run stand can measure the torque of the engine. The prop he used is a 105" three bladed Hartzell on loan from a King Air. We were able to put 8 or nine hrs. on the engine before loading it in my pickup for the trip home to IL. The next picture is in my hanger just after unloading. Picture three is with the engine just after installing it in the 4P. The last picture shows the intercooler and intake system. I could not believe how smooth and quiet the engine ran. This engine has duel electronic engine controls with duel spark plugs. The electric system has duel independent systems ie. two batteries, two alternators along with the ability to interconnect the two systems in the event of an alt. failure. one of the alternators is the very large anti-ice unit while the other is 100 amp. Darus even found room for an air conditioning compressor. Lancair 4p N1QB Richard Perry
