(Although I = think the cowl is e-glass on the more recent kits.) Even though I'm an = electrical engineer I've never investigated the electrical properties of = Lancair's carbon fiber skins and have no idea if they afford some level = of lightning protection. I do know the stuff conducts well enough that, = several times now, I've had static discharges from myself to the skin of = my Legacy. It startled me the first time as I wasn't expecting it. Now = it's more of a curiosity, and each time it happens I tell myself I've = gotta remember to check out just how conductive the stuff really is. = Yeah, like a kit builder has time for side projects.
