I have had several conversations with Mark at Lancair about the problem. He
supposedly is working on the fix. I can see how another restrictor would
not work since it would be in series and slow everything down. It seems to
me that on the up cycle there should be a bypass which would leak down some
of the pressure. Maybe this and other posts will bring the solution sooner
from Lancair.

[You know, when controlling the speed of pneumatic cylinders we typically use a muffler that free-flows in one direction, but restricts flow in the other. A similar hydraulic circuit could be easily fabricated using a check-valve/flow-restrictor plumbed in parallel on the outflow side of that cylinder. Nothing much magic about it, I'm surprised no-one else has made the suggestion. FWIW,
