Hi Bob,
A couple of years ago I bought my comm, nav and transponder antennas from Bob
Archer. His designs must be different from a 'standard dipole' and apparently
no magic beeds are necessary. Here is a message I got back from him this
morning.

Those ferrite beads are absolutely useless! When Jim Weir came out with that
idea years ago I immediately went down to our RF lab and ran some tests and;
nothing that I could detect with some very sensitive equipment. For people
that are using standard dipoles I will supply drawings so they can fabricate
a balun that really works but on my antennas a balun is not required because
they are designed with a "Gamma" match feed which does not require one.
