I set my max gross weight at 1900 lbs for certification. I have had it up to
that weight several times and the flying characteristics are fine. Just a
slow climb. Not much of a difference in TAS once you level off at cruise
either. I have an AOA gauge and use that, rather than airspeed, to set
approach speed. At the heavy weights I'm approaching at around 88 kts,
whereas at light weights it works out around 74 kts. I've not had any
problems at high gross weights.
We're planning a north Atlantic crossing next summer and are very interested
in hearning about your Pacific plans.
