For those of you with normally aspirated 0-320s, when do you use the boost pump? Engine start? Takeoff? Climb? Landing? Never? Emergency only? Just wondering what everyone else does.

Theoretically, with a header tank, gravity is enough to feed the engine. Sometimes on climb out, my fuel pressure goes down to less that 2 lbs. At this low pressure time, the EPI 800 starts an annoying beeping. To stop the beeping, I turn on the electric fuel pump. The low pressure shouldn't make any difference to the engine because there is still fuel in the carburetor's float tank.
Also on startup, run the pump to make sure that the carburetor's float tank is full.
Without a header tank, the electric pump is also used as a mechanical pump backup.
