I roughly set the speed adjustment during ground tests, then tweaked it after
first flight.  Unless you can simulate the in-flight air loading on the
flaps, it's a 'cut and try' sort of adjustment.  

Yes, the retraction speed is a bit brisk, but once you get used to it, works
out fine.
