I am upgrading my 235 by installing a 0-320 with 160 HP pistons and am trying to decide which prop of buy. After checking with DeMuth and Prince the recommendation is a 62X78, but there seems to be some black magic involved to get just the right prop.

I would like to have good takeoff performance, and turn about 2700 to 2800 at full throttle at altitude, but I realize there are trade offs with a fixed pitch prop.

On my 0-290 I had a DeMuth prop (62X76) which had poor takeoff and not quite enough rpm at cruise (2650 max), so I suffered at both ends.

I am looking for recommendations, short of the big bucks for an MT. Also does anybody out there have a used 62X78 or equivalent prop they would like to sell?

Thanks,
