I must admit that, after the thin-walled canopy, the air vents are the next most loudest source of noise - even with a Bose headset (third is the occasional scream from the pilot). I do believe that it is not the rush of air, but prop/engine noise. On my next aeroplane, I would seriously consider a more aft source of ventilation air. If you are using a vacuum pump, is your cockpit at a lower pressure because of all the air being sucked out? Or, does the presence of two Lancair pilots in the cockpit compensate by the excess hot air being expelled. --part1_1a8.2e690c3.2a250165_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 5/28/2002 10:27:29 AM Central Daylight Time, cbaker9@nyc.rr.com writes:

Clark,

A "little bit of noise"?  I must admit that, after the thin-walled canopy, the air vents are the next most loudest source of noise - even with a Bose headset  (third is the occasional scream from the pilot).  I do believe that it is not the rush of air, but prop/engine noise.  On my next aeroplane, I would seriously consider a more aft source of ventilation air.

PPS: Hmmmm.  If you are using a vacuum pump, is your cockpit at a lower pressure because of all the air being sucked out?  Or, does the presence of two Lancair pilots in the cockpit compensate by the excess hot air being expelled.
