Dan, My ELT (ACK, uses easy-to-replace Duracells) is on a shelf about 2.5 to 3 feet behind the baggage bulkhead with a foil Z-shaped comm antenna glued on the fuselage side in front of the ELT.  ACK has a remote test/reset switch that can be placed on your panel.
