This arrangement has been working Great for 600 hours on an I/O 320 in our Lancair. Multiple looks at spark plugs (only on 2nd set) and compression, in addition to fuel burn and performance has been good. Yes...It may not be 100% optimum, but certainly does not qualify as hopeless. More appropriately I think it is practical and adequate.
