All diesels run "LOP" and the new Cummins engines have a design life of 10,000 hours running manifold pressures of about 3 atmospheres (that's 90 inches!). Also, stationary natural gas engines run similar loads and they are spark ignition engines that run LOP for their whole life, often for about a year between shut-downs. All you can hang your hat on is that the exhaust valve life is very sensitive to the actual metal temperature of the valve itself, and that will be lower LOP than at peak.
