This is the injected 360 engine and it is the Lancair supplied $425 pump (Dukes?). The pump is running and it sounds like it's pumping air. After some jostling from cranking the engine, the pump will then begin to meet some resistance (fuel) and the pitch of the sound becomes lower as it pumps against a head pressure. I've noticed that I can rectify the problem by opening the gascolator and pumping out this drain valve for a minute or so. But with time, the problem recurs. This is all verified by monitoring fuel pressure and flow during pump operation. Anyone else have this problem? My fuel system goes from the header tank through the shutoff valve through the fuel filter (mounted on the rear side of the firewall a the level of the bottom of the header tank), down to fuel pump (also mounted on the rear side of the firewall - with the motor body up, per the service advisory), then down and through the firewall to the gascolator, then to the engine driven fuel pump.
