I am not an attorney and don't play one on TV or the internet! That said, here's my "common sense" thoughts on the issue. You can create corporations that own corporations that own countries that own corporations and blah and blah and blah... the bottom line is that an individual, not a corporation, has to sign on the dotted line under text to the effect "I built 51% of the airplane" That person is the "manufacturer" and will be liable in the event of a "manufacturing defect" The corporations and all the mumbo jumbo can not shield that individual from personal liability. As to the validity of the legal advise, you need to make sure that the attorney understands ALL the issues. An attorney may have an excellent plan to shield you from liability using all these corporate structures, provided you do not make the "stupid mistake" of signing a piece of paper taking responsibility for the airplane that he is working so hard to distance you from. Make sure that your attorney has the complete picture, not just most of the picture and is not making assumptions about you doing things the way that are done in "normal" business world.
