I second the suggestion from Rob Wolf to use supplies from the Model airplane community.  You would be surprised at how sophisticated the models have gotten.  My suggestion would be to use the 4-40 rod ends which are designed for larger models-can you say 1/3 scale Pitts!  If you need more exact info let me know.
