It can't buy poverty. I installed a 12 lb Harmonic Balancer on my engine($380) based on a recommendation by Scott Krueger. I have a Hartzel CS prop. The balancer is designed to stabilize a lighter prop. The results are everything that I had hoped for. The CG was moved forward 1/2 inch(just perfect) and the engine feels as smooth as a turbine. I also brought the spring distance on my vertical trim, from washer to washer, with Reichel's Geared Trim System(GTS), down from 12 inches to 10.5 inches. It is almost OK. I can now trim between 85 KIAS and 175 KIAS. With the washer to washer distance set at 12 inches, I could only trim to between 95 KIAS and 160 KIAS. When the weather gets warmer, I will put 1/2 inch of washers in to shorten the distance to 10 inches. It looks like 12.0 inches gave me a 65 KIAS differential (95 KIAS and 160 KIAS). It looks like 10.5 inches gave me a 90 KIAS differential (85 KIAS and 175 KIAS). Can any engineers out there tell me what spring distance that I need to be able to trim between 80 KIAS and 200 KIAS? I will also try to come with some formulae to solve my problem. Thanks, -- Lorn H.
