Makes me wonder how my Cessna 150 flew with the fixed pitch prop ..... Seriously, though, the fixed pitch works just fine with an aircraft with a small speed range between takeoff and cruise. Such is not the case with the Lancair, and with a fixed pitch prop the takeoff performance suffers a lot. The other guys have talked quantitatively (as have you) about the specific benefits of the CS prop, and I'm certainly planning on installing one. Unfortunately, the single-gear car analogy, while amusing, isn't really a good example here. However, if money were the bigger issue, I'd rather fly with a fixed pitch prop than not fly while saving for the CS prop. - Rob >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://members.olsusa.com/mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please remember that purchases from the Builders' Bookstore assist with the management of the LML.
