Dodson, Jr." : 50 is still OK. Once the engine warms up, it makes no difference at all really what grade of oil you are using. The benefit of the lower viscosity occurs only during start-up and warm-up. 50 degrees OAT is plenty warm for SAE 50. You can always warm up your engine before starting if it gets colder. A blanket and blow-dryer would work, just don't leave it unattended.
