I found the air valve that was mentioned earlier that comes off the left
front door of an '82 240D Mercedes.  It truly is a suitable valve for
switching static sources.  It will take a little ingenuity to design a
linkage to convert to a rotary or switch action.  Its main advantage is its
lightness - considerably lighter than the Clippard switch that comes as part
of the door seal mechanism.
