Follow the trail from the pickup through the main oil pump, oil gallery, governor pad, governor and crank slip ring. Be sure the prop shop understands why they are looking at the governor. SOP may be to have an underling shred the governor and put it in the cleaner tank before the real mechanic ever looks at the parts. Any contamination, particularly in the over pressure relief valve, could be lost. I am curious why there are two impulse couplings. I was under the impression that there is typically only one impulse coupling (usually on the left mag). Were they broken by overspeed? Are all the parts still attached? Is the mag still being driven and if so what happens to the ignition timing? I was very happy to learn that your airmanship skills were able to reunite your butt and terra firma at an acceptable VS. Good job!
