Don't know of any actual experience with the Lancairs, but about 10 years ago a
factory Velocity went down in the ocean off Florida during their deep stall
tests. I heard that the plane floated and was "towed" back to the coast,
cleaned up and put back in service. You can try asking a Velocity builder as
they would know more. Or you can call the Velocity factory and get the direct
scoop.
