I started up my IO360 for the first time a couple of weeks ago in my driveway. After sitting for about 2.5 years while I finished building, the engine started after only 3 or 4 blades. Since then, I have moved my 360 to the airport -- 60 miles on the road, San Jose to Concord, CA. Over the weekend, I taxi-tested for the first time. Yesterday, I had my pitot/static system and transponder check done. FAA inspection is next week.

My question is what to set the idle RPM to. Currently, if I pull the throttle out all the way, the RPM drops below 600 and the engine starts to die. What should the idle RPM be set to? Is 800 okay?

I'm using the mineral break-in oil. After how many hours do I perform the first oil change? Should I change to regular oil then, or should I run more mineral oil? When can I switch to regular oil? Also, if I want to have my oil analyzed, does it make sense to start with the very first oil change, or should I wait until after the break-in?

Thanks for the help. It won't be long now.
