For hoses under about 3 feet there was a weight savings due to thoes big 2 piece end fittings we have to put together (stainless hose weighs a little more but the swaged end fittings are much lighter). For about 20 bucks per hose, 10000 psi burst press, swaged end fittings, custom made to exact length (within 0.125 inches seat-to-seat) delievered in about a week and almost half the weight (compared to 12" hoses supplied with the kit) seems like a win-win.
