There are a couple other arguments in favor of 24 volts:

1. Smaller wire sizes for the same power transfer. Small weight savings on a
plane the size of a Lancair. BIG difference on a commercial airliner.

2. Most Mil-Spec components (relays, valves, etc) are much more readily
available in 24 volt versions. Most 12 volt stuff is from the automotive
industry. Not necessarily a bad thing, but component ratings are less
consistant and flammabiliy is a concern on some of the plastic parts.
