Tracy;
Are you referring to the more recent quotes referring to security that have
become so prevalent in the years since 9-11 or just the thought provoking
quotes in general that I've noticed over the years before and after 9-11?
In my case I chose my quote because it reflects my belief that I can do
anything I want to if I am willing to make the required sacrifice. I learned
that attitude many years ago from a bullriding instructor in California
named Garry Leffew who was the 1970 world champion bullrider. It was and
still is his motto. He was the cowboy equivalent of Tony Robbins (you know
that guy on late night TV preaching the power of positive thinking) Except
that Garry wasn't so annoying. I drove all the way down to Santa Maria,
California to spend a week on his ranch for a bullriding clinic, but while I
did get lots of practice as I could get on as many animals as I wanted, what
I did bring away from there that was worth every penny was attitude and lots
of it. I became the "stud horse with the fuzzy balls". There was nothing I
couldn't do and no animal they could run under me that I couldn't ride... or
at least that was my attitude. I spent enough time in the hospital in the
few years after that to prove that sometimes positive thinking is not
enough, however it did make me a far better rider allowing me to ride like I
only dreamed of before, and more importantly it drastically affected my
whole attitude towards life.
And that is why I like my quote :-)
