At the time of designing it, I did stress calculations on different 'beams' to find a combination of dimensions and materials that would put the bending stresses into an acceptable range. I settled on 0.065 wall rectangular tubing measuring 2" x 1". I wanted to mount the oil cooler below the motor mount beam for easy access to air. The further work that Jerry Hey has done, making it a 'hat section' allows easier fabrication, and he is statically loading the beam to test it, which I did not. BTW, I did not name the mount.
