Towed it home and found the only problem was that it was = flooded! Leaky injectors were apparently a not uncommon problem for = certain year models. Shut it off with the fuel pump and it worked = great. That was the core for my engine. I drove=20 the wheels off of it for 2.5 years during which time I put an = additional 130k=20 miles on it (at least... I drove it everywhere, and I do mean = everywhere.) I=20 found it on Ebay, less than 100 miles from home. I purchased it = to get=20 experience with the rotary... my attitude was that I was not = going to replace=20 any failing non-critical systems, but do whatever it took to = keep it on the=20 road until the engine gave out. By the time it hit 240k miles = I'd replaced=20 the water pump, radiator, a rear end (thanks to Oil Express or = one of those=20 places, where they didn't put the plug in properly after a = fluids change), a=20 set of plugs and wires (pm only, the engine was running fine = with the parts=20 that came on the car, but what the heck ), a clutch, = instrument cluster,=20 brakes, etc... nothing that you wouldn't expect to last over = 150k miles. When=20 I parked the car to start driving something a little more = comfortable it was=20 still running. They are amazing pieces of machinery. Anyway, = my first take=20 would be to keep shopping... there are lots of good deals out = there. $3400=20 sounds a bit much (unless it's a well dressed Turbo-II = convertible.) FWIW.
