Trying to drill directly through the cast steel is hopeless. My best drill bits with Boelube couldn't penetrate. You need to use a die grinder to break through the surface which has been extremely hardened by repeated heat/cool cycles. It doesn't take much, then you will be able to drill much easier. I decided to grind out a level area to allow me to drill square, while clamped in a drill vice. Ps. In the pic EGT1 it looks like allot of material was removed, but this is misleading. It didn't take much out to get it level and square. S.
