Do you 13B drivers tend to just taxi out at low rpm then launch? Would your engine overheat if you did a 15 minute medium power runup? I'd appreciate any general thoughts, or comments on how much ground running I should expect to get away with before the temps get too high. Anything else I should check?

Congrats on getting signed off, now the real fun begins!  With a engine up front and at the ambient temps I've ran at (65F and below) it could run all day at low to mid power on the ground.   With the prop off it would overheat in 5-10 minutes at idle.  Being you don't have the big fan blowing air at the rad & cooler I'm not surprised ground running is a problem. I didn't have enough respect for the amount of heat coming off the exhaust and ended up blistering paint on the cowl before  I did something about it.  I found this stuff <http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/mufflerheatshieldkit.php> does a good job.
