I thought the Mechanair company was out of business.  Do they have a new web
site?  I have written to the old e-mail address several times and never
received a response, and the web site hasn't been updated in a few years...
Could you post their contact information if you see them at SNF?

Thanks,

Greg

Subject: [FlyRotary] EGT temps

I am finally tryint to both run the engine and read the engine monitor and
ECU hand-held programmer (actually panel-mounted). RPM is functioning fine
on the MicroTech programmer, but the RPM is not working on my AV-10 engine
monitor.  I hooked up the blue/red wire that the schematic said was for the
tach signal to my engine monitor, but on my engine monitor, where the tach
is supposed to connect, it says, tachometer + and tachometer -.  Since my
ECU only has one wire that is "supposed" to go to a tach, might I just be
able to attach any ground wire to my engine monitor's tach - terminal and
expect it to work?
Next question.  My engine seems to idle a little rough under 1200
rpm's. (I don not have the prop on it yet), and at idle speeds between 1200
and 2000, my new EGT shows 710 to 790 degrees after about one minute of
running.  Does this sound too low an EGT for idle?  I have the stock cast
iron exhaust manifold, with a 10 inch pipe coming off the stock manifold,
and the EGT probe is in the first inch of the tailpipe where it connects to
the stock cast iron manifold. Unfortunately, now that I have an EGT number,
I don't know if it is even close to what might be "normal".  I realize that
there is really no "normal", since most of our installations are different,
just looking for a ballpark number to expect.  Thanks for everyone's input.
Hope to see some of you at the rotary tent at Sun-N-Fun. The Mechanair
rotary engine rep will be there with his products.  Paul Conner, 13b powered
