I know it cheating, but I went to C&R racing for a custom radiator.  It was very reasonable, about the price of a new OEM.  I determined the maximum size and shape that would fit in the area that I wanted to put it (under the engine).  For less than $500 I got a raddiator that was exactly the size and shape that I needed with the AN fittings of my choice set in the location of choice.  The quality of work they do is phenominal.  In the long run, the $500 is a drop in  the bucket.  15 hours of gas...

My idea was to go to a junkyard with a tape measure and look in a bunch of different vehicles until I find something that will fit. Then go to eBay and buy there. Like this place:

I guess I've been spoiled from the electronics industry where one can browse catalogs by specs and dimensions. Obviously they must be out there, but may be contained to part supplier insiders.

For racing or universal radiators there are websites, like Summit's, where one can search by dimensions. It's just that prices are 3 times what vehicle-specific new radiators or evap cores can be purchased at.
