Once Andrew gets all that testing and documentation done, he can start planning destination flights. There is an AOPA fly-in to Livermore, CA in mid-late June, of course Oshkosh a month or so later, and something else a month or two aftrer that. If anyone needs a reason to fly somewhere, just do it, and look down at the traffic crawling along through cities... Some interesting destinations are Chino to go to the air museum, Seattle Washinton DC, Sacramento, San Diego, Tucson, Dayton, and likely a dozen or two other cities for the same reason. Olympia, San Diego and Detroit for car museums. Monterey for the aquarium. Investigate all airports prior to visiting. Try Avalon on Catalina Island for a challenging airport and a buffalo burger. There use to be a sushi bar on the field at Santa Monica. Breakfast at Big Bear, an amazing burger at Winslow, AZ and good food and pie at Wink, TX - I don't know if either still serve. There should still be Pie at Chino also, mexican food at Montgomery (San Diego) and breakfast at Santa Maria. Good diner and cheap fuel at Las Cruces, NM. Most airports I've been to have nice aviation people, but Texas and Alabama have some of the most welcoming people you will find. One place I stopped along the gulf coast had a free home cooked lunch buffet if you bought so many gallons of fuel. It was delicious. If all else doesn't interest you, find out where everyone in this group is, and make arrangements to visit. Maybe someone will put your itch to build to use! Best regards, Rob McMillan (KCRQ currently) Not building or flying anything right now... Mulling over options...
