Andrew,

                      This is a common problem, the transition from 
go,go,go, to nothing.  Many pilots find this even without building. They 
get a licence and discover there is nowhere to go except around the 
circuit.  Hence the problem with high performance machines, you get 
where ever you want to go fast, and then sit waiting for transport for 
longer than the flight---- why did I just not drive???

This also explains the current trend back to  'recreational" aircraft 
where you just do an hour at a slow pace for just the thrill of flying.  
Trend is back to 100 MPH machines that have stol performance where 
paddock landings are easy, which expands the scope for flight.

Travel to neighbours  for  tea and bikkies.  You have to have a need to 
get in at least once every 2 weeks, or you end up not flying at all --- 
Generate that need somehow.
